When applying for residency, I was looking for a program to prepare me to become a full-spectrum family physician to serve the people in my community better, especially the underserved population. I chose Phoebe Family Medicine Residency because it is unopposed, and it has the resources and support I need to grow into the family physician I envisioned. Also, the moment I walked into my interview, I knew I wanted to be trained at Phoebe as I felt right at home and truly experienced the southern hospitality.

Outside of medicine, I am a wife and a mother to a very energetic boy. I enjoy practicing a patient-centered approach, being able to spend adequate time with patients during their visits, and the ability to explain preventative care, disease pathology, and personal treatment plans without feeling rushed. Phoebe caught my attention because I was looking for an unopposed program where I knew I would receive full exposure to Family Medicine. However, the program truly won me over when I saw how friendly and welcoming everyone was, which wiped away any uncertainty I previously had about choosing this program. It was also pleasantly surprising to find out that Phoebe had built an apartment complex – Flaggstone – just for residents and students. This is something that is almost impossible to find at any other program.

Outside of medicine, I love go-karting, fitness, horror movies, and exploring new countries. Notably, my two-year experience volunteering at the surgical intensive care unit at Grady Health System prior to medical school. My medical education was at American University of Antigua. There, I continued to be of service to the community by volunteering at a care home that catered to developmentally delayed and disabled children. I completed my clinical rotations in New York, Florida, Ohio, Maryland, and California which exposed me to an array of patient populations.
