History
Established on March 2, 1984, the Sumter Regional Hospital Foundation, Inc. began operating as a 501(c)3 charitable organization to help raise funds “to be used exclusively for charitable, medical, educational, and scientific purposes at or in connection with then Sumter Regional Hospital, now Phoebe Sumter Medical Center.
Founding gifts to the Sumter Regional Hospital Foundation were given by:
- Mr. Robert Perry
- Mr. Charles H. Wheatley
- J.G. Deriso
Throughout its history, the Sumter Regional Hospital Foundation, Inc. has assisted in the purchase of needed medical equipment, support of capital projects and important clinical programs, and contributed over $1M to the rebuilding of the new hospital, Phoebe Sumter Medical Center, after the March 1, 2007 tornado.
Signature gifts toward the rebuilding of the hospital were made by:
