Mattie H. Marshall Cross Country Trail Signs

The Mattie H. Marshall Cross Country Trail opened to the public in 2018. It’s been used by Phoebe Sumter Medical Center employees, visitors and community members. This year, we partnered with a Boy Scout troop to add wildlife signage and solar lights to the nature section of the trail for walkers to enjoy.

These new Sci Fit Steppers will allow us to provide more complete care to our patients in three different settings: physical therapy, occupational therapy, and cardiac rehabilitation. It works on muscle activation, range of motion, and endurance for patients.

Monica Novii Wireless Patch System

Featured at the 2016 Premier Inc Innovation Celebrations, the Monica Novii Wireless Patch System provides the opportunity to enhance current Labor and Delivery monitoring. The Bluetooth data is transmitted to a maternal/fetal monitor that is viewed continuously by Phoebe Sumter Medical Center’s experienced team.

Rapid Evaluation and Management (REM) Process

The number one patient dissatisfier in ERs across the United States is long wait times. At busy times, there may not be enough treatment rooms available for patients. The REM process places a doctor or nurse practitioner adjacent to the triage area so that patients are seen immediately after arrival to the ER. Laboratory studies can be collected and treatment started up front, rather than having the patient wait until a treatment room is available. This has proven to improve patient satisfaction and reduce the percentage of patients that leave before their treatment is completed.

Electrocardiogram

An electrocardiogram (EKG) is a test to record the electrical signals in the heart. It shows how the heart is beating. If a patient is having an acute heart attack, our goal to have them out the door and on the way to intervention is 30 minutes. To properly care for our community, we need our EKG machines to be up-to-date and functioning without delays. Our EKG saves lives daily.

Oncology Patient Bags

As patients begin treatment, there are various items they need, such as a thermometer (ensure no fever during chemotherapy), toothbrush (with soft bristles to reduce mouth sores), hand sanitizer (protect the health of our patients during chemotherapy treatment), pill case (manage multiple pills during chemotherapy treatment) and a tote bag (used to hold patient documents and medications).

Patient & Visitor Courtesy Shuttle

Our new courtesy shuttle, through PEACH funds, is used to navigate around our parking lot for employees, patients, and visitors.

Bikes

Staying active is key to staying healthy. This year, the PEACH committee approved to fund new cycling bikes for the Phoebe Sumter Medical Center gym. We want to make sure to continue investing in the wellness of our teams.

Salad Bar

Wellness is a key component to an engaged workforce. At Phoebe Sumter Medical Center, we invest in programs and items that encourage employees to stay healthy and active.
