Outpatient Services

Phoebe Behavioral Health clinic is designed for patients to come on an outpatient basis for the management of medications by a psychiatrist or an advanced practice provider (APP). The clinic also offers traditional outpatient therapy appointments for patients ages 5 and up. Staffed with two psychiatrists and two psychiatric nurse practitioners and several thearpists, the clinic offers appointments 5 days per week beginning at 8 a.m.

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

The Intensive Outpatient Program is designed for individuals who present with a psychiatric diagnosis and have the need for treatment, which is more intensive than traditional outpatient clinic visits and less intensive than inpatient 24-hour hospitalization.  Patients may be treated in one of three programs according to age: Adult (18 and up), Adolescent (14 to 17) and Children (8 to 13)

The IOP’s goal is stabilization with the intention of preventing inpatient hospitalization. The IOP is also beneficial as a step-down unit for patients who have been admitted and are ready to leave the hospital but might need that extra care. While enrolled in the IOP, patients will be seen by a psychiatrist a minimum of every 30 days for follow-up and medication management.

Organized as a continuum of care, the system of outpatient programs enables the movement of patients to the most clinically appropriate and cost effective level of care.

The IOP seeks to provide the patient with knowledge, insight and skill that will assist them in dealing with their behavioral health challenges through a variety of modalities including group, individual and family therapy. Patients who are admitted to the Intensive Outpatient Program are involved in treatment at a minimum of 2-3 hours per day at least 3 to 5 days per week and all groups, individual and family therapy sessions are facilitated by a master’s level therapist.

A strong emphasis is placed on relapse prevention, which includes a crisis care plan with wrap around services to facilitate successful discharge from the program.
