KNOW YOUR BODY – Don’t ignore symptoms
Signs of a heart attack:
- Chest pain or discomfort.
- Feeling weak, light-headed, or faint.
- Pain or discomfort in the jaw, neck, or back.
- Pain or discomfort in one or both arms or shoulders.
- Shortness of breath.
- Women may experience additional symptoms including unusual or unexplained tiredness and nausea or vomiting.
Signs of a stroke: Remember BE FAST
- B – Sudden loss of balance or coordination
- E – Sudden trouble seeing out of one or both eyes
- F – Sudden drooping on one side of the face
- A – Sudden weakness in one arm or leg
- S – Sudden trouble with speech or understanding
- T – Time to call 911
- While BE FAST is the best way to identify a potential stroke, there are other symptoms that can indicate a possible stroke including:
- Sudden numbness in the extremities
- Sudden confusion or trouble understanding
- Possibly sudden severe headache with no known cause
Other Symptoms
- Abnormal nausea or vomiting
- Abnormal loss of appetite
- Coughing up blood
- Sudden pains beginning on the right side of lower abdomen
- Sudden pain that begins around your navel and shifts to lower right abdomen
- Pain that worsens if you cough, walk or make other jarring movements
- Abnormal lumps/bumps/protrusions
- Painful urination
- Chronic joint pain
