Truist Charitable Fund Provides Grant for New Trauma & Critical Care Tower
Albany, GA | July 26, 2024 – Phoebe announced today that it received a grant from the Truist Charitable Fund to support the ongoing construction of the new Trauma & Critical Care Tower on Phoebe’s main campus.
“Phoebe was literally built on a foundation of philanthropy. A charitable donation funded the construction of our first hospital building more than 110 years ago, and generous donors have helped our health system grow and expand in every decade since,” said Parker Douglas, Phoebe Foundation Director. “We appreciate this grant from the Truist Charitable Fund, and all the other donations, that are helping Phoebe continue to enhance our healthcare services.”
Phoebe broke ground on the Trauma & Critical Care Tower in January 2023, and the tower is scheduled to open around the first of the year. The tower will include a new emergency & trauma center, neonatal intensive care unit and adult ICU.
“Our current ER has served us well for more than 25 years, but it’s time for a modern, more efficient emergency center with a greater focus on trauma care,” said Deb Angerami, Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital CEO. “Our NICU team also provides amazing care in cramped quarters, and they can’t wait to care for our tiniest patients and their families in a much bigger and better space. And the new adult ICU will meet a growing need for critical care in our community. In short, the new tower will improve access to quality healthcare for many people in southwest Georgia, and we thank Truist for supporting this important project,” Angerami added.
“We’re proud to support Phoebe and its new trauma and critical care center,” said Truist Southeast Georgia Market President Mark Stovall. “Our purpose is to inspire and build better lives and communities, and one of the ways we live out that purpose is by partnering with organizations such as Phoebe.”
