How to Use a Tourniquet
The most common trauma injuries we see in Phoebe’s Level II Trauma Center are a result of motor vehicle crashes, falls or violence. Many of those injuries result in severe bleeding that can cause death if not controlled quickly. A tourniquet is an excellent tool that, when used properly, can help save the life of a bleeding victim. If you are with someone who has suffered a traumatic injury, the first thing you should do is call 911, but you may be able to take other potentially life-saving actions while you wait for paramedics to arrive.
