Dr. Kevin M. Smith MD, MPH, FACOEM, is the Medical Director for Phoebe Corporate Health. Dr. Smith joined the Corporate Health team in January 2006. He is board certified in Occupational and Environmental Medicine, and has over 32 years experience in the field. He has been a member of the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (ACOEM) since 1992, and became a Fellow of the College in 2011.
Dr. Smith is a certified commercial driver medical examiner listed on the National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners. He is also a certified Medical Review Officer, and a certified Independent Medical Examiner. Dr. Smith is a member of the ACOEM Law Enforcement Medical Guidelines Task Force. His previous experience includes working as a flight surgeon for the U.S. Air Force, including operational support for the Space Shuttle. Dr. Smith also has over 10 years experience working for the DuPont Corporation, including service on the Corporate OSHA Recordkeeping Audit Team, Corporate Substance Abuse Team, Corporate Hearing Conservation Committee, service as back-up medical review officer for the U.S. region, and founding member of the North American Nylon Ergonomics Network. Dr. Smith also served as a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Family and Preventive Medicine, University of South Carolina School of Medicine, and served on the Residency Advisory Committee for the Preventive Medicine Residency Program. He is currently a Clinical Assistant Professor of Public Health, Department of Environmental Health Sciences, Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine.
