Annual Sumter Pink Walk for Cancer Set for October 24
Americus, GA | September 14, 2026 – The Phoebe Sumter Foundation has announced that its Sumter Pink Walk for Cancer will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2026. The annual event, which raises money for local cancer patients, will take place at the Mattie H. Marshall Cross Country Trail on the Phoebe Sumter campus located at 126 HWY 280 West in Americus.
The American Cancer Society estimates 2.1 million people will be diagnosed with cancer in the United States in 2026 – a significant jump from 2025. Of that number, more than 626,000 people will lose their battle with the disease. Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed form of cancer in women, with an estimated 333,000 new cases in women and approximately 3,000 cases in men.
Over the past seven years, Sumter Pink has raised nearly $170,000 for local cancer patients. This year’s walk will benefit Phoebe Sumter’s Oncology clinic and the patients it serves.
“Sumter Pink is a testament to what our community can accomplish when we come together in support of the those fighting cancer, survivors, their families, medical teams, and anyone affected by this disease,” said Katherine Council, Director, Phoebe Sumter Foundation. “We want people to know that no one fights alone, and the Sumter Pink Walk is a great way to show that, have a fun day, get some exercise, and raise awareness and funds to help fight cancer.”
Participants are encouraged to register early for the event. Registration is $25 per person now through October 9 and $35 per person October 10 until the day of the event. Each registrant will receive a Sumter Pink t-shirt and a swag bag. To sign up go to https://phoebehealth.com/sumterpink.
