Phoebe Expands STD Testing Services Through Urgent Care Clinics
Albany, GA | April 25, 2025 – During STD Awareness Month, Phoebe is announcing an expansion of its services to include testing for sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) at its urgent care clinics. The initiative underscores Phoebe’s commitment to increasing access to vital health services across southwest Georgia.
Phoebe Urgent Care currently operates five locations with extended hours – Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and weekends from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Phoebe will soon begin construction on a sixth urgent care location, at U.S. Highway 82 and Marlow Lane in Lee County, which should open this fall. The clinics provide patients with a convenient, accessible option for prompt medical attention.
“Our evening and weekend hours and multiple locations provide convenient options for patients seeking urgent care, including STD testing,” said Martavius Marcus, Director of Physician Practices for Phoebe Physicians. “This service is essential for maintaining sexual health and preventing the spread of diseases.”
Phoebe Urgent Care now offers comprehensive STD testing for:
- Gonorrhea
- Chlamydia
- Bacterial Vaginosis (BV)
- Trichomonas
Testing is simple and accessible, and no appointment is needed as all Phoebe Urgent Care locations accept walk-ins.
Patient Experience & Process
Patients can expect compassionate and confidential care throughout their visit.
- Male patients typically provide a urine sample for gonorrhea and chlamydia.
- Female patients may receive a swab, either self-administered or provider-administered, with clear instructions from staff.
Results are typically available within 30 minutes, enabling quick follow-up and treatment.
“Getting tested for STDs should be as routine and stigma-free as any other aspect of your health. At Phoebe Urgent Care, we’re here to make that process easy, confidential, and supportive. Early detection and treatment can make a major difference, and we want our patients to feel empowered to take control of their sexual health,” said Leah Webb, Nurse Practitioner at Phoebe Northwest Urgent Care.
If a patient tests positive, treatment options may include:
- An antibiotic injection and prescription, or
- A prescription only, depending on the infection diagnosed.
Cost and Coverage
- Most insurance plans cover STD testing; insured patients typically only pay a copay or receive a bill via email.
- Self-pay patients can expect to pay approximately:
- $125 for the combined gonorrhea/chlamydia test
- $20 each for BV and trichomonas testing
Phoebe Urgent Care ensures complete confidentiality. Patients are treated with respect, and there are no indicators to suggest why any individual is being seen.
“Our goal is to create a safe, welcoming space where patients feel comfortable discussing their sexual health. By offering quick, reliable testing and education, we’re helping our community stay healthy and informed—and that starts with breaking down barriers to care,” Webb said.
Providers are available to discuss safe sex practices, prevention strategies, and can also provide printed educational materials or refer patients to trusted resources like the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).
Phoebe’s expansion of STD services is part of a broader effort to improve community health outcomes and reduce barriers to care. For more information, to find the nearest urgent care location, or to schedule a telehealth appointment, visit www.phoebehealth.com/urgentcare.
