Phoebe Sumter collaborates with community program to offer Mental Health First AID Training

Americus, GA | April 18, 2024 – Phoebe Sumter Medical Center (PSMC), in partnership with Middle Flint Health & Wellness, hosted its first Mental Health First Aid training session on Saturday, April 13 at the PSMC Wellness & Education Center.

Mental Health First Aid is a comprehensive course designed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders. The training empowers individuals to offer initial support and assistance to those facing mental health challenges or crises.

Open to healthcare professionals, teachers, first responders, veterans, parents, and concerned community members, Mental Health First Aid training aims to foster healthier, happier, and safer communities for all. Sign-up is on a first-come, first-served basis, with no cost to participants.

To register, individuals are required to indicate their preferred session dates, provide their full name, and a verified email address. Registration must be completed at least one week before the start of the first class of the month, and participants must attend both sessions to receive certification.
