Phoebe Welcomes Internal Medicine Specialist Dylan Hewlett, MD to Laurel Place
Albany, GA | September 10, 2026 – Phoebe Physicians has welcomed Dylan Hewlett, MD, to its growing team of internal medicine specialists at Phoebe Primary Care at Laurel Place in Lee County. Phoebe is continuing to recruit additional internists for the clinic, establishing Laurel Place as the central location for its outpatient internal medicine specialists.
Dr. Hewlett earned his medical degree from the University of Ghana Medical School in Accra, Ghana, and completed his internal medicine residency at Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital in Athens, Georgia.
Patients have already praised Dr. Hewlett for listening carefully, explaining care clearly and providing a calm, compassionate experience. They have also highlighted the convenience of same-day appointments and his attention to comfort and pain management.
Internists specialize in adult medicine and are trained to provide preventive care while diagnosing and managing complex conditions that may involve multiple organ systems. Their expertise is especially valuable for adults managing several chronic health concerns and coordinating care across specialties. Phoebe employs internists as hospitalists for patients admitted to the hospital and is now expanding its outpatient internal medicine team at Laurel Place.
The expansion is supported by a newly renovated facility. Located on U.S. Highway 19 in Lee County, the Laurel Place clinic recently added treatment space and refreshed patient care areas, giving the growing team room to serve more patients while maintaining high-quality, efficient care.
At Laurel Place, Dr. Hewlett joins internal medicine specialist Karen Campbell, MD; family medicine physician Patrina Lockette, MD, who will continue providing comprehensive primary care; and advanced practice providers Emily Burford, FNP-C, and Steven Stocking, PA-C. Phoebe expects additional internists to join the team in the near future.
“We have an excellent team of family medicine physicians serving primary care clinics across southwest Georgia, and we know some patients prefer or require a physician with specialized training in adult medicine and complex disease management,” said Estrellita Redmon, MD, President of Phoebe Physicians. “Expanding our team at Laurel Place brings those specialists together in one location, united by a shared understanding of the community they serve.”
Dr. Redmon added that the renovated space was designed with that long-term vision in mind.
“We didn’t renovate Laurel Place simply to make it bigger; we designed it to become the home of internal medicine at Phoebe,” Dr. Redmon added. “As we continue adding physicians to this team, patients will know exactly where to turn for expert, connected adult care.”
