Sumter Pink Walk for Cancer Set for October 25
AMERICUS, GA | September 11, 2025 – The Phoebe Sumter Foundation will hold its Sumter Pink Walk for Cancer on Saturday, October 25, 2025. The annual event, which raises money for local cancer patients, will take place at the Mattie H. Marshall Cross Country Trail, located on Phoebe Sumter’s campus in Americus.
Participants are encouraged to register early for the event. Registration is $25 per person now through October 10 and $35 per person October 11 till the day of the event. Each registrant will receive a Sumter Pink t-shirt and a goodie bag. To register go to phoebehealth.com/sumterpink.
Over the past six years, Sumter Pink has raised more than $136,000 for local cancer patients. This year’s walk will benefit Phoebe Sumter’s Oncology clinic and the patients it serves.
“Each year, Sumter Pink grows stronger as a symbol of what our community can do when we come together. Raising over $136,000 in six years is remarkable, but even more powerful is the way this event lifts the spirits of survivors, encourages those in the fight, honors loved ones we miss, and reminds us that no one battles cancer alone,” said Katherine Council, Director, Phoebe Sumter Foundation.
In 2025, the American Cancer Society estimates nearly 2 million people will be diagnosed with cancer in the United States, and that nearly 618,000 people will lose their battle with the disease. Breast cancer remains the most common cancer diagnosis with an estimated 316,950 women and 2,800 men being diagnosed with the disease.
