The flagship hospital of our system, Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital (PPMH), is the only Southwest Georgia hospital designated a Level 2 Emergency Cardiac Care Center, Georgia’s highest level of emergency cardiac care. PPMH is also equipped and staffed with a dedicated trauma response team of numerous surgeons skilled in a variety of specialties and highly-trained clinicians who provide specialized care for victims of extreme life-threatening injuries such as blunt force and penetrating trauma.
Our most common trauma cases involve vehicle crashes, industrial accidents, violent assaults involving guns or knives, serious falls, impalements, and other incidents that could be fatal or cause permanent, long-term, or serious disability.
Minor illnesses and injuries can be treated at Phoebe Urgent Care (Northwest Albany), Phoebe Urgent Care (East Albany), Phoebe Urgent Care (North Campus), or at Phoebe Urgent Care (Lee County). Each of these centers is staffed by highly-qualified physicians, registered nurses and technologists trained to deliver urgent care to children and adults. No appointments are necessary.
The emergency room is where most of our admitted patients begin their stay at Phoebe. The intensive care unit is where our most critically ill patients receive lifesaving care from specially-trained teams of experts. The neonatal intensive care unit is where miracles happen, as we compassionately care for unimaginably tiny and vulnerable babies.
Phoebe is currently seeking state designation and national verification as a Level II Trauma Center. We provide exceptional care to trauma patients every day, but designation as a Level II Trauma Center would expand Phoebe’s trauma capabilities and allow us to accept more trauma patients from a wider area of south Georgia. An expanded emergency and trauma center is an important aspect of our journey to a Level II Trauma Center. After construction of the new tower, the current emergency center will be completely renovated to create one large, seamless emergency & trauma center.
