Project Expanse FAQs

Q: What is Expanse?

  • Expanse is an upgrade for Phoebe, but it’s also Meditech’s next generation platform.
Expanse is a web-based EHR (electronic health record) that breaks down walls erected by ‘desktop medicine’ and presents users with an open, intuitive workspace that prioritizes user satisfaction and productivity.

Q: Why are we upgrading to Expanse?

  • Phoebe is upgrading to Expanse to improve the EHR experience for our providers with a user-friendly dashboard of data as well as a reduction of clicks in documentation and order entry.

Q: Will I need training? If so, what are the dates?

  • All Providers that use Meditech will need training.
  • There will be on-line modules to complete as well as in-person training.
  • Training will start at the end of April and go through June 2021.

Q: When will this happen?

  • Go-live is scheduled for June 13, 2021
  • We will have at the elbow support for providers at all four campuses for two weeks.

Q: Who needs to sign up for online classes?

  • All Phoebe and Phoebe credentialed providers will need to participate in the online classes for Project Expanse.

Q: Who needs to sign up for in-person classes?

  • All Phoebe and Phoebe credentialed providers that see patients in the hospital will need to participate in an in-person class, except for specific provider groups that will have group classroom training provided.

Q: When do I sign up for in-person training?

  • After you complete the on-line classes, you will be prompted to sign up for the online classes. However, if you’re in one of the provider groups listed below, you will not sign up for in-person training as your practice manager will work with you to set up classroom training.

Q: Which provider groups will have group classroom training provided?

  • Emergency Department, Scribes, Hospitalists, Neonatology/Pediatric Hospitalists, Intensivists/Pulmonology, Residents and Anesthesiology. If you are in one of these provider groups, your practice manager will let you know dates and times for training, and you will not need to sign up for one on one training after you complete the on-line classes.
